Google, Microsoft, and Facebook are the top 3 digital companies whose sites are visited by more than 50% of Australians every month. Though Microsoft has claimed to be the top site with the most visitors, it is actually Google that takes the title as the most visited site by Australians.

In the 3rd quarter of 2010 Google-owned sites, which includes YouTube.com, have reached 12.7 million of Australia’s active online users.

Nielsen estimates 14.6 million active online users in Australia, while 17.8 million have access to the internet.

According to Nielsen, the companies with the biggest reach are:

1.     Google – 12.7m

2.     Microsoft – 11.412m

3.     Facebook – 9.063m

4.     Telstra – 7.27m

5.     Yahoo – 6.909m

6.     News Corp – 6.904m

7.     eBay – 6.829m

8.     Australian Federal Government – 6.479m

9.     Wikimedia Foundation – 5.902m

10.  Fairfax Digital – 5.769m
