Why Your Business Can’t Avoid Social Media

business social media

Marketing online for a small business allows many opportunities, particularly with social media. This is even further seen in social media websites such as Google Plus and Facebook, services that allow free reign of social interaction and infinite space like a cloud company.

Google Plus is combative and formidable in their quest to control and overtake their competitor, Facebook. Their “circle” option has allowed more exclusivity and privacy for users, who can isolate their friends into groups. This helps regulate information that is appearing to other users, a common complaint of the social media phenomenon. Google Plus has implemented chat rooms similar to Skype, where users can video chat, an option that Facebook currently lacks.

Google Plus has a slowly growing audience, and that is not quite the fault of the users, but more so Google itself. Their invite-only basis has limited their audience, though that is expected to drop soon. As well, Google Plus is limiting who exactly can make a profile. When initially launched, businesses were unable to make accounts. This turned off many marketers who were looking to move to their service. Though that has been lifted, they still limit your name availability, which can dissuade users who want multiple accounts or want to do something other than be completely truthful. The long term effect of this is still being observed.

Regardless of Google Plus’ few faults, they are doing quite well. But Facebook is not interested in waiting for their decline. Facebook has combated Google Plus with holding their own attributes that are key to Google Plus. They opened up a “friends list” option extremely similar to Google Plus’ “circles.” This helps further regulate their privacy issues, and helps to defend against Google Plus’ new innovations.

The advent of Google in the social media market is troubling for Facebook, but with such a massive audience, it will take quite some time before Google Plus gains any momentous ground. Both social media options are of high quality, and as time goes on, they both seem to be getting ever so similar in interactivity. But it is still to early to fully grasp’s Google Plus’ marketing potential in the competitive field. But you can be confident that with a backing like Google, SEO marketers, users, and businesses alike will flock to their all-encompassing influence.
